Magnitude 6
Sound diffusion device through body vibration
Paris, France
2025
Magnitude 6 is a sound diffusion device through body vibration. Instead of using loudspeakers like a conventional sound system, six wooden panels are set in motion by transducers. This technique allows the listener to lie down and feel the vibrations throughout the body through bone conduction, while also producing quality airborne sound diffusion.
This haptic perception reveals another dimension of the musical compositions we know and transforms our relationship to listening. Furthermore, the activation of the sense of touch and the richness of vibration types induce a state of relaxation in those who lie on it.
In 2023, Tom Vincent initiated a research project on sound perception through the body and designed the first version of a relaxation device through vibration. In 2025, Malo de Widerspach joined him and together they opened the project to new fields of exploration and development.
